TRADITIONAL TOUCH TO THE PRESERVATION OF WOODEN HERITAGE: Master hands-young brains cooperation project starts
Funded under YAPIMED- Graduates and Members Society of Istanbul Zincirlikuyu Technical and Constructional Vocational High School, Common Cultural Heritage Conservation and Dialogue Between Turkey and EU-II (CCH-II) Grant Program, Young Masters-Traditional Touch to the Preservation of Wooden Heritage: Master Hands- Young Brains Collaboration Project started on April 1, 2021. The activities carried out together with the project partners, Istanbul University, Department of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets (Turkey) and the European Centre for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Monuments (Greece), will be held with the participation of Zincirlikuyu ISOV Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School students.
Grant Scheme for Common Cultural Heritage aims, development of international cooperation on cultural heritage and promotion of cultural values in Turkey; to promote civil society dialogue through culture, art and cultural heritage. In this context, the Young Masters project is based on the disappearance of traditional arts and craftsmanship, which is the general problem of our age, and It is aimed to keep the wood carving and kündekari arts within the scope of intangible cultural assets alive, and to raise awareness about the national and international recognition and protection of the Turkish wooden heritage.
In the project, which will last for 15 months, it is planned to continue the wooden craftsmanship, which has survived from father to son / master to apprentice, by transferring it from masters to vocational high school students, and to create a holistic training module in this direction to keep the wooden cultural heritage alive.
Project outputs will be announced on YAPIMED and Project websites and official social media accounts and will be accessible to everyone.
